Today, I would like to discuss the issue of the over-the-counter sexual supplements that seem to be flooding local convenience stores and gas stations.
A couple of weeks ago, Dr. Christopher Asandra, a nationally recognized sexual health expert and Chief Medical Officer of NuMale Medical Center, was featured in the Orlando Sentinel cautioning people against these “all natural” supplements. Just a few days after the piece was published, famous NBA player and Khloe Kardashian’s husband Lamar Odom, was hospitalized in a critical condition that was the result of taking exactly the type of supplement Dr. Asandra had talked about.
Unfortunately, Mr. Odom is just one of many men who suffered serious health complications after using these products. Unlike what many people might think, just because these supplements are legally sold at gas stations and convenient stores does not mean that they are harmless or even FDA-approved.
Oftentimes, these “herbal” pills contain dangerously high doses of prescription grade drugs that can pose serious risks to a person’s health. Such supplements can lead to increased blood pressure and react with other drugs and medications in unpredicted ways.
As NuMale Medical Center’s Founder and Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Asandra has always been passionate about helping men maintain their sexual health. That’s why in recent weeks he has been actively speaking out and spreading the word about the dangers of these over-the-counter products.
