There is No Shame in Being Healthy

By Brad Palubicki

We all want to be the best person we can be and lead long and active lives for as long as possible. As men age, there is little they dread more than losing the ability to perform sexually. Studies show that erectile dysfunction (ED) negatively affects not only men’s confidence but also our perception of self-worth. Men suffering from ED are often embarrassed to admit the problem or talk about it with their physician.

ED is often caused by aging and low testosterone. However, there is a plethora of other factors and underlying conditions that may contribute or cause ED even in relatively young men with normal testosterone levels. Conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity, as well as behaviors like tobacco or alcohol use, and a lack of exercise can all contribute to ED.

Dr. Asandra, M.D., is the Founder and Chief Medical Officer of NuMale Medical Center. In his recent article “Marijuana and Erectile Dysfunction,” Dr. Asandra talks about different factors contributing to ED and cites some alarming statistics: “up to 39 percent of men experience ED in their 40s, and nearly all men over 70 have some difficulty getting or maintaining an erection.”

Considering how important sexual vitality is to us, you would think men in today’s society would do everything in their power to take good care of their sexual health. Unfortunately, the fear of losing a part of our masculinity often does little to affect our bad habits that contribute to ED. It is important to remember that sound nutrition, exercise and adequate sleep are all required for good sexual health.

Most of our health problems are caused by neglect and lack of preventative medical attention. By taking care of yourself today you can ensure a happy and rewarding life in maturity. See your physician regularly, and don’t hesitate to inform him or her about any ED symptoms you may be experiencing. Modern medicine can effectively treat nearly all instances of ED, so don’t rely on the blue pill – address the root of the problem instead. It will be well worth the effort.
